Who we are
Zero to Chef LLC operates the web cooking service at app.zerotochef.com, including Kai, your AI-assisted cooking companion. This policy explains how information is handled in that web service. Contact support@zerotochef.com about privacy or account questions.

Information we collect and use
- Account information: Your email address, authentication information, and account settings are used to create and protect your account, confirm your email, and recover access.
- Cooking and household information: Information you choose to provide can include household size, names, birthdays or ages, allergies, dietary preferences, pantry items, recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, ratings, and cooking notes. Provide only the details needed for the cooking help you want.
- Conversations and uploads: Messages and images you submit to Kai, together with relevant cooking preferences and conversation history, may be processed to answer your requests. Do not upload passwords, payment-card details, or unrelated confidential information.
- Membership information: Subscription status, billing identifiers, trial history, accepted subscription terms, and complimentary-code records are used to manage access and billing.
- Technical information: Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, request and error information, browser information, and security records needed to deliver and protect the service.
Only provide information about another person when you have authority to do so. Allergies and dietary information may be sensitive; do not submit unnecessary medical information.
Why we use information
We use information to deliver requested recipes and cooking help, personalize suggestions, preserve saved content, operate accounts and memberships, respond to support requests, and investigate errors or misuse. Information may also be retained or disclosed where necessary to comply with applicable law, resolve disputes, or protect rights and security.
Personalization does not make a recipe medically appropriate or allergen-free. Review ingredients and labels, avoid cross-contact, and obtain qualified advice for health or allergy concerns.
Optional household and grocery settings
Household birthdays are optional and may be used for birthday meals and celebrations. Age information may be used to personalize family meals. Where the updated household controls are available, you can choose an age range and provide only a birthday month and day, without a birth year. Relevant household details may be included in the context sent to our AI providers for cooking assistance.
Where grocery-area settings are offered, you may choose to save a country and ZIP or postal code for grocery-related features. These fields are optional, do not request GPS access or a street address, and are kept separate from Kai's ordinary recipe context and grocery-list exports. Saving an area does not itself place an order or send it to a grocery retailer. Grocery delivery and local-store availability lookup are not currently connected through these settings.
Use the available account controls to edit or clear optional details, or contact support for help. Saving an older full birthday through the updated month/day editor replaces that current profile field; it does not automatically erase earlier conversations, backups, or provider records. Technical IP information and addresses separately provided for billing are distinct from optional grocery settings.
Service providers
- Supabase: Authentication and storage of account and cooking records.
- Vercel: Hosting and delivery of the web application and its backend.
- Perplexity: AI processing of requests and relevant context, including images when provided. Depending on the request and configuration, processing can involve model providers and web-search tools.
- Stripe: Hosted checkout, payment-method management, subscription billing, and cancellation. Card details are entered through Stripe, not Kai chat. We receive billing records needed to manage your subscription.
An AI request may involve external research, such as looking up a restaurant menu. Providers process information under their applicable arrangements with us and their own relevant terms; we do not promise zero retention, processing only in one country, or one particular model provider for every answer.
Saving and sharing
Using a cooking feature does not itself authorize us to post your conversation publicly. Features and controls available in your account determine what you can choose to save or share.
When ingredient-list sharing is available, the export contains the ingredient names and quantities you select. Sharing from the grocery-list control exports items not marked as picked up. Those exports do not add your household names, birthdays, age ranges, saved grocery area, or Kai conversation.
You choose the recipient or destination using the sharing or copy controls. An exported list is a snapshot, not a live collaborative list; later edits or deletion in Zero to Chef do not update or remove copies someone else received. Review any recipe, list, link, or other content before sending it. Recipient handling and external services' policies apply once you share.
Cookies and browser storage
The web service uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in and protect account confirmation and password recovery. Browser storage may also preserve settings such as appearance. Blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in or recovery from working.
The web service does not currently change its behavior in response to a browser's Do Not Track signal. This does not limit any privacy choices or rights required by applicable law.
Your choices and requests
You can update information through the controls available in your account. Contact support@zerotochef.com to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information, or for help with an unavailable control. We may verify your identity before acting on a request. Applicable law can provide additional rights and can require us to retain certain records or limit a request.
Clearing a profile field or grocery setting does not automatically erase earlier messages, exported copies, backups, or provider records. Contact us if you want help requesting broader deletion.
Subscription cancellation and account deletion are different actions. Use Manage subscription to stop future renewal and contact support for account deletion. Signing out does neither. See our Terms and Conditions for billing details.
Retention and security
Information is retained for the purposes described here, including operating your account, honoring your requests, preventing fraud, and meeting legal obligations. Billing and dispute records may need to be kept after an account closes; backups and service-provider records may follow separate retention processes.
We use access controls and other safeguards intended to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your password and the devices where you sign in.
Children and household profiles
The web service is intended for adult account holders, not independent accounts for children. A parent or legal guardian may choose to provide limited information about a child in their household to personalize family meals. Provide only what is needed and use an age range instead of an exact birth date where that option is available.
If you believe a child has submitted information inappropriately, contact support@zerotochef.com. We will investigate and handle the request under applicable requirements.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will provide notice or request consent when required, rather than treating a change to this page as permission for a materially different use.
